The Midnight Express

Held annually at Country’s On Mercury Drive, the Midnight Express started back in 1970-something as a handful of folks running through the neighborhoods around Cross Country Hill as a way to signal summer’s end, and has since out grown to a 5-K road race that brings together over 2,000 runners from across the country to raise money for the visually impaired. You don’t have to strap on your trainers to get in on the action! There is always live music, vendors, good food, cheerleaders, and 1,000 of your closest friends to bring in the fall with.

The Reindeer Run

This race is for the kiddies! We hold this one every December at Country’s On Broad, the same weekend as the Christmas Parade (race starts at nine with parade at ten). It’s the perfect holiday outing: a brisk one-mile, kids-only run through downtown, followed by the parade, and topped off with such festivities as a visit from Santa, free hot dogs to runners, free cotton candy, free popcorn, amusements, and an awards ceremony. Awards are as follows: 1st, 2nd and 3rd for boys and girls in class categories (Pre-K), (Kindergarten 1st, 2nd grades), (3rd, 4th, 5th grades), (6th, 7th, 8th grades). In addition there is an overall first place for girls and boys. The school with the most kids running receives a huge trophy and free catering from Country’s. All funds raised stay right here in Columbus to benefit kids through the Children’s Miracle Network at the Medical Center.
